Princess Al-Jawhara Centre of excellence in research of hereditary disorders welcomed a number of senior professors, doctors and well known international researchers from the centers of scientific excellence in the field of genetic diseases. Their visits reflect the excellence and leadership of PACER-HD and below is a summary of these visits.

Dr. Mandeeb Kaur: a professor at SANBI centre at the University of Cape in South Africa and a researcher at the University of King Abdullah for science and technology visited the centre and was introduced to the development of the Centre in the area of specialized scientific researches. She also discussed the prospects of research cooperation between the centres with the Director of PACER-HD.

Dr. Saeed Jaradat: senior specialists in genetic diseases and the Director of the of Princess Haya Biotechnology centre at University of Science and Technology in Jordan visited the department of genetic medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and the PACER-HD on 19-23/ 6/ 2010. He delivered several lectures for the fourth year students at the Faculty of Medicine, and gave talks to the Department of medical genetics and PACER-HD. He also discussed the prospects for cooperation with the Centre.

The international expert Prof. Dr. Gordon Ferenz specialized in the field of metabolic medicine, a consultant in clinical biochemistry, and the director of the Science and Technology Centre in the medical college at the University of Kiel in UK visited the centre and discussed the aspects of cooperation in research about the genetic causes of diabetes.

An international delegation from the National Science Foundation in the United States visited the centre on 06/03/2010. The Director of the Center gave a presentation on the centre’s role and effort in researches, and discussed the prospects for cooperation with the scientific organization represented by the visiting delegation. Among the most prominent members of the team Prof. Dr. Rajiv Dubey and Dr. George lee.

Visit Dr. Joseph Gleeson: Associate Professor in neurological diseases, Department of neurological diseases at the University of California in the United States of America on . Dr. Gleeson is one of the international researchers who has long experience in gene researches. He led a research team to the discovery of several genes causing neurological diseases and variations of the brain.

VisitDr. Ahmed Tibi: professor and consultant in genetic diseases / genetic diseases Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Cornell University in Qatar and who was the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics in New York and former President of the Department of Clinical Genetics at the University of Toronto in Canada.
Dr. Tibi was of world-class researchers who had a long history of genetics researches with more than (350) scientific papers in scientific journals. During this visit, he delivered several lectures to the medical students about medical ethics and genetic diseases in the Arab world. Dr. Tibi visited the centre twice: the first visit was on 21/3/2009 and the second was on 13-19/ 12/ 2009.
Scientific tasks done by Professor Dr. Ahmed Tibi during his visit:
• Gave scientific lectures in genetic diseases and medical ethics for the third and the fifth year students in the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University.
• Examined patients in the center’s clinics.
• Contributed in the training of resident doctors.
• Supervised scientific research done in the center.
