Abstract
:
This study sought to examine the level of job satisfaction for teachers of students with intellectual disabilities and its relationship to some variables in Jeddah city. The study adopted the descriptive approach as the researcher utilized the questionnaire as the main tool for data collection. The study population consisted of all teachers with intellectual disabilities (males) working in all integration classes attached to government schools and institutes of intellectual education in Jeddah, with a number of (319). The study sample was represented in a random simple sampling with a number of 194 teachers, which represents 61% of the study population. The results of the study indicated a high level of job satisfaction among teachers of students with intellectual disabilities in Jeddah. Also, the results revealed that the self-satisfaction of the profession ranked as the first dimension among all dimensions related to the level of job satisfaction, followed by the dimension of professional relations, work nature, the social dimension respectively, while the professional development came in the last rank among all dimensions of job satisfaction. Despite of this rise in the level of job satisfaction, the study showed that there are some gaps and challenges in the nature of the work of these teachers, which need to be filled and worked effectively to be overcome, which lie in the following; The additional work that constitutes a burden on their work with the absence of teaching aids and tools necessary to teach these students, the fatigue of training courses during school time, poor cooperation between home and school, and the difficulty of standards for obtaining the professional license, which is not supported by the training courses provided to these teachers.
